November is Diabetes Eye Disease Month
Ada — Nearly 23 million Americans are affected by diabetes, and of these people, nearly one-third, or almost 6 million, are unaware that they have the disease. Undiagnosed, diabetes can result in vision impairment, a frequent complication of both Type -1 and Type-2 diabetes, and blindness.

Question by Dembi: When treating Diabetes with Alpida is it possible to numb the area before injecting?
I found out yesterday that I had type 1 Diabetes, I'm 16 and afraid of needles, I inject myself 4 times a day now and I have already done four of them, today I couldn't bring myself to do it and needed someone else to inject me, so I wondered if I could numb the area first.
Any information would be great, this is all very new to me.
Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Miz Lamb
Oh, please get over the fear of needles. Find a psychologist, psychiatrist, hypnotist, any type of mind altering doctoring to help you. Yes, you are not alone but you have no choice in this!!!

I find it much easier to never allow someone else to do any injection for me!! Including the annual flu jab or the occasional other jab!!

Get the 31 gauge needles and lancet points. These are so fine you can almost see them so they make the smallest holes in your hide possible at this time.

Pinch your skin tightly for a minute. Then lay the needle on it and slide it in. If you feel it, move over a tiny bit.

YES!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! I DO!! but I don't find it necessary to numb the area as if it hurts it means I have hit a nerve, so I move over a bit. Some days I have to change sites entirely as I am much too sensitive where I had planned to inject.

I upset some of my friends sometimes. I refuse to go to a restroom to inject when out in public. A friend of mine and I had dinner not long ago. We both waited for our plates to be delivered to the table then grabbed our gear to inject. We both got the giggles because we each thought the other would vacate to inject. But the only people who noticed were thinking we were having a happy party!

I repeat: YOU CAN DO THIS!

Give your answer to this question below!

New Computer Method To Measure Mechanical Stress In Fat Cells
From fad diets to exercise programs, Americans continue to fight the battle of the bulge. Now they'll have help from recent Tel Aviv University research that has developed a new method to look at how fat cells - which produce the fat in our bodies - respond to mechanical loads. This might be the key to understanding how to control the amount of fat produced by fat cells, the holy grail of weight ...
